The Alvados Caves have as a primary reference its location in the centre of the country and in the coastal region named Regi?o Oeste (West Region), where the Aire and Candeeiros Mountains Natural Park is also located. The main accesses for those taking motor vehicles, whether coming from the north or the south, are the A1 motorway, exiting in Torres Novas and the A8 motorway exiting in Porto de M�s. In this way if you leave the motorway at the Torres Novas exit, you should turn right immediately after the toll and take the national road towards Alcanena..., do not turn into Alcanena..., go straight ahead towards Moitas Venda and at the only existing traffic lights in central Moitas Venda turn left and immediately after..., circa 50 metres ahead, turn right taking the tarmacked road which will take you through the Serra de Santo Ant�nio village and follow the caves road signs. Close to the caves you will pass the "Farm School", pass various restaurants..., and pass the Santo Ant�nio Caves..., carry on for another hundred metres and continue until you encounter the Alvados Caves park.

If you come from the A8 motorway, exit at Porto de M�s and after the tolls turn left and take the national road towards Cruz da L�gua. Carry on for several kilometres and in the centre of this town there is a crossroads with traffic lights where you should turn left and then right..., continue for about 2 kilometres and cross the old Lisbon/Oporto national road at the traffic lights..., do not turn left or right but continue in the direction of Porto de M�s and when you enter the town turn right at the second roundabout, take the Torres Novas road towards Alvados. Continue for a few kilometres of steep and coiling road and descend to the Alvados plateau and turn right at a well signalled bifurcation?, go through the Alvados village following the caves signs..., for about 3 km, until you reach a crossroads which is immediately opposite the Alvados Caves, or as an alternative do not turn at the Alvados bifurcation..., continue to the next crossroads with the caves indication. Turn right and follow the road always to the left until you begin to climb towards the Alvados Caves park.
